Testing the Fan Blade

Follow the steps below to test your GEN3 Attic Breeze Fan blade from within your attic.

Tools needed:

  • 1/8-inch Allen Key

From the Attic:

  1. Locate the thermal and fire safety wiring harness at the base of the fan.
  2. 2. Disconnect the thermal and fire safety connector by pulling the two black connectors away from each other. This will disconnect the solar power going to your fan. (DO NOT pull excessively on the wiring as to not harm the harness assembly).
  3. Inspect fan blade for any bends or defects. (Fan blades are built with precision and any defects could affect performance).
    1. If fan blade is damaged, please contact Attic Breeze Technical Support
    2. If fan blade is not damaged, continue to troubleshoot your fan.
  4. Inspect fan blade and make sure the fan blade base is flat and even with the motor shaft. (If fan blade is not mounted flush with the motor shaft, the fan will not work properly).
    1. If fan blade is mounted incorrectly, proceed to step 5.
    2. If fan blade is mounted correctly, please contact Attic Breeze Technical Support.
  5. Loosen the 1/8-inch Allen Key screw located on the shaft of the fan blade. (Careful to not bend fan blade).
  6. Adjust the fan blade on the motor shaft. Notice there is a flat side of the motor shaft. You will align the flat side with the 1/8 -inch Allen key screw hole. Make sure the shaft and base of the fan blade are even with each other prior to tightening the 1/8-inch Allen key screw. (If fan blade is not mounted flush with the motor shaft the fan will not work properly).
  7. Once the screw is tightened, you can now connect your thermal control harness at the housing base. (Ensure that nothing is in the way of fan blades prior to connecting harness).
  8. Visually inspect the fan blade to ensure the fan is rotating evenly in the fan housing.
    1. If the fan is not rotating evenly, you’ll notice either a loud noise from fan operation OR shaking/vibrating fan housing. Please contact Attic Breeze Technical Support if this is happening.

Note: A functioning blade will turn under power from the motor with minimal noise and NO housing shaking or vibrations.
