Need help with your Attic Breeze solar attic fan? This guide walks you through common repairs, part replacements, and troubleshooting steps.
Changing Out the Fan Blade
Tools needed: 1/8" Allen Key

Locate the thermal and fire safety wiring harness at the base of the fan.

Disconnect the thermal/fire safety connector.

Loosen the 1/8" Allen Key screw on the fan shaft.
-
Pull off the fan blade.
-
Place the new blade and tighten the screw.
-
Reconnect the harness and ensure no obstructions.
Changing Out the Solar Panel
Tools needed: Phillips Head Screwdriver, 7/16" Deep Well Socket, Ratchet
From the Attic:

Disconnect the thermal/fire safety harness.
From the Roof:
2. Loosen the 7/16" nuts on the solar panel bracket.
3. Disconnect the wiring harness.
4. Remove the old panel, replace with the new one, and tighten bolts.
Changing Out the Thermal/Fire Safety Switch
Tools needed: None

Locate the thermal/fire safety switch combo.

Disconnect the old switch.
-
Replace with a new switch from Attic Breeze.
-
Ensure connectors have no silver showing.
Fan Is Not Functioning – Troubleshooting Steps
Before starting, make sure:

Attic temperature is above 80°F.
-
Sunlight is hitting the solar panel.
Steps:

Check harness connections in the attic.
-
Check solar panel placement on the roof.
-
Ensure the wiring harness is connected properly.
-
Verify fan operation.
If the fan is still not working, check specific parts: motor, thermal switch, or solar panel.
Motor Replacement – Exterior

Disconnect the solar panel and cover/unplug it.
-
Remove bolts as per the diagram.
-
Disconnect and replace the motor, then reconnect wires.
-
Replace the fan blade and reassemble the unit.
-
Restore the solar panel and test operation.
Motor Replacement – Interior
Tools needed: 1/8" Allen Key, 7/16" Deep Well Socket, Ratchet

Disconnect the thermal/fire safety harness.
-
Remove the fan blade.
-
Disconnect wires and loosen the motor strap.
-
Replace the motor and secure with the strap.
-
Reinstall the fan blade and reconnect the harness.
Testing the Fan Motor
Tools needed: Allen Key, Socket, Ratchet, 9V Battery, Wire

Disconnect the harness and remove the fan blade.
-
Disconnect motor wires.
-
Connect wires to a 9V battery:
-
Spins = good
-
No spin = replace motor
-

Reassemble the fan after testing.
Testing the Breeze Mate Controller

Locate the Breeze Mate controller and press power.
-
Check and replace batteries if needed.
-
Verify red indicator lights on the receiver box.
-
Test the fan using the numbered dial.
-
Check wiring harness connections.
Testing the Fan Blade
Tools needed: 1/8" Allen Key

Disconnect the harness and inspect the blade.
-
Check alignment and flatness with the motor shaft.
-
Adjust the blade and tighten the screw.
-
Ensure the fan rotates smoothly without vibration.
Testing the Solar Panel
Tools needed: Multimeter, Screwdrivers, Socket, Ratchet

Disconnect the harness in the attic.
-
On the roof, disconnect the panel wiring harness.
-
Test voltage with a multimeter (normal range: 18–20V).
-
If voltage is incorrect, check the wiring box and connections.
-
Reconnect and secure the solar panel.
