Testing the Breeze Mate Controller

Follow the below steps to test function of the Breeze Mate controller.

You will need to access the attic for testing procedures.

Tools Needed:

  • N/A

Inside the Home:

  1. Locate the Attic Breeze Mate controller wherever it is installed.
  2. Press the power button located to the far right of the controller.
    1. If the controller powers on, proceed to Step 6.
    2. If the controller does not power on, proceed to Step 3.
  3. Locate the battery compartment at the bottom right side of the controller.
  4. Press up firmly to release the battery door.
  5. Replace batteries and press the power button located at the far right of the controller.
    1. If the controller powers on, proceed to Step 6.
    2. If the controller does not power on, please contact Attic Breeze Technical Support.
  6. Slightly lift up on the entire Attic Breeze Mate to lift the white controller off of the mounting screws. (You will take the controller with you until the completion of testing.)

Inside the Attic:

  1. Locate the Attic Breeze Fan and the Breeze Mate Box. (The Breeze Mate Box is the black box at the base of the Attic Breeze Fan connected to a wiring harness).
  2. Verify there are two lit red lights on the Breeze Mate Receiver Box. (One light is for power from the solar panel. The other is signal power being sent to the motor.
    1. If both lights are red, proceed to Step 9.
    2. If solar panel light is on but signal light is not, proceed to Step 12.
    3. If signal light is on but solar panel light is not, proceed to Step 12.
    4. If no lights are on, proceed to Step 12.
  3. Locate the numbered dial on the Breeze Mate Receiver Box. (The numbers correspond with the Attic Breeze Fans located on the home if there are multiple fans). Each fan must be on it’s own channel. 
  4. Turn the dial to number 1 on the Breeze Mate Receiver Box. (This fan will become Fan #1 on the Breeze Mate Controller).
  5. Power on the Breeze Mate Controller if not already powered on. (The Breeze Mate Controller will automatically power on with fan #1 showing).
    1. If no readings show on the Breeze Mate Controller, please contact Attic Breeze Technical Support.
    2. If readings do appear on the Breeze Mate Controller, your controller and receiver are functioning properly, proceed to Step 15.
  6. Locate the wiring harness attached from the Breeze Mate Receiver to the wiring harness on the Attic Breeze fan.
  7. Check to make sure that both connectors are attached properly by pushing the connectors together firmly to ensure no silver is showing.
    1. If lights are red, return to Step 9.
    2. If lights are not lit, proceed to Step 14.
    3. If only one light is red, contact Attic Breeze Technical Support.
  8. Disconnect both wiring harnesses and reverse the harnesses. Wires should be labeled; Power In to Power In & Power Out to Power Out (This is to check to see if the harnesses were connected incorrectly. This will not harm the equipment).
    1. If lights are red, return to Step 9.
    2. If lights are not lit, please contact Attic Breeze Technical Support.
  9. Place Breeze Mate Controller onto the mounting screws inside the home.
